Cindy Sherman

Sherman is renown for her eccentric portraits. She has many of clowns or of people in odd makeup styles and unconventional fashion statements. I think her work although not always the most visually appealing, is an interesting narrative on beauty standards and its everchanging principles. It shows how subjective the current beauty standards can be and how fleeting they are to the point it is futile for individuals to follow trends and change themselves again and again.
